Carla Bruni and Her Private Side
The private Carla, the supermom. She describes herself as completely unpretentious in her free time. Anyone who drops by her home in Paris unannounced is “very surprised and thinks it can’t be me greeting them in socks and Birkenstocks,” the Italian-born star explains. Because fashion is her job—and “when I’m not working, I’m not working.” What a cool and straightforward explanation!
As a model, Bruni says, she is transformed into a magical being by the work of stylists and makeup artists. Without this magic, her world looks quite different: in an ordinary T-shirt, she renovates her own studio, where she writes her songs as a singer. She even rehearses for her concerts at home, dressed casually.
Vacations are no exception: relaxation is the priority! Carla Bruni prefers to head to the South of France, to Cap Nègre, with her husband Nicolas Sarkozy, 70, and their 13-year-old daughter Giulia. There, her bare face disappears behind sunglasses, and her long legs into a pair of jeans.
A “luxury” Bruni has earned, considering how she has always mastered her roles in life with excellence. To stay in runway shape, she even practices pole dancing—much to the delight of her fans, who cheered her on after she shared a video of it on Instagram.

Despite all her professional ambitions, her family comes first. Once a jet-setter linked to stars like Mick Jagger, 81, Sean Connery (†90), and Kevin Costner, 70, since 2008, Carla Bruni has been devoted to her role as the wife of former French President Sarkozy—even standing by him when he was convicted of corruption in 2021.
As First Lady, Bruni always carried herself with a keen sense of poise and elegance. And she admits that her wardrobe is still well-stocked. She loves fashion and saves special pieces for her daughter—even though, as a passionate equestrian, Giulia mostly wears riding pants. For now!
