They are cutting all ties with the United States: TV host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly sold their last remaining property in the U.S. – once again making a hefty profit.

Once major players in the California real estate market, Ellen DeGeneres, 67, and her partner, Portia de Rossi, 52, now seem to be parting ways with their property portfolio for good. According to the well-informed website “Realtor,” the power couple’s last remaining Montecito property was sold in less than two weeks on the market. DeGeneres and de Rossi have been living in England for over six months now, having purchased a charming estate in the Cotswolds – reportedly for a cool $18 million (around €16.6 million).

Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi: Their Impressive Real Estate Business

According to its listing, the nearly 1,700-square-foot (160 sqm) Montecito home impressively combines “simplicity with sophistication.” Floor-to-ceiling windows allow plenty of natural light to flood the stylishly furnished rooms. A fully equipped professional kitchen invites homeowners to cook and indulge, while the outdoor areas – with lounge spaces and timelessly elegant furniture – are perfect for relaxing with friends. According to “Realtor,” the couple bought the property in December 2020 for $2.9 million (around €2.6 million). Now, selling it for nearly $5 million (around €4.6 million), they have once again secured a substantial profit.

Their Move to England Seems Permanent

Over the past two decades, TV icon Ellen DeGeneres has made headlines not just on screen but also in the real estate world. As a shrewd and forward-thinking investor, she and her wife acquired numerous dream homes, renovated them, and sold them for significant profits.

Only the best was ever good enough for the couple: They once bought a Malibu beach house from Brad Pitt, 61, got married in 2008 at a $29 million (€26.8 million) estate, and owned multiple horse ranches. Their property portfolio included more than a dozen homes.

With just one sale – the legendary Brody House in Holmby Hills – DeGeneres and de Rossi reportedly made an astonishing $15 million profit in just six months. Now, with the sale of their last U.S. property, an extraordinarily successful chapter in the lives of these savvy businesswomen has come to an end. It remains to be seen whether their new career plans in England will once again lead them back into the real estate industry.
